Breakfast is the most important meal of the day right?
So why do so many men skip it?
Of those that do eat it, why do so many stuff crap down their throats to start their day?
Time to start treating your body with the same care and dedication as your business.
(by the way the by-product of this is a smaller waistline, less mid morning cravings and more alertness throughout the day = more productivity at work)
Hopefully now I have your attention.
First of all let’s cover off what you need to ditch. The foods that you just need to stop eating right now:
- Toast
- Cereal
- Breakfast bars
- Croissants
- Pastries
- Yoghurt
Here are some options that successful guys are having:
Al Roker (Today Show presenter in the US) has a high protein smoothie: Consists of protein powder, greens powder, almond milk, almond butter, and frozen berries. I had something similar to this today and used my wife’s nutri-bullet to make it (took about 2 mins!)
Chris Robshaw, Danny Care and Mike Brown – these rugby boys know how to take care of themselves. On low intensity training days they opt for high protein and healthy fats – eg. omelette and avocado, or smoked salmon, poached eggs and veggies.
Freddy Flintoff – when he was training for his boxing match last year he had a professional dietician taking care of his foods. He shed tons of fat and much was put down to his meat and nut breakfast.
Meat and nuts – cook some chicken, beef, lamb the night before (get someone else to do this for you if you’re too busy) and then eat it in the morning with a handful of walnuts, almonds, cashews (whatever you prefer)
Here are a couple of other options:
Fish and veggies – If you’re really busy then open a tin of mackerel with some spinach. Preferably fresh fish though.
Scrambled eggs with spinach – 3-4 eggs with a load of spinach – lovely
If you’re really busy then spend 3-5 minutes the night before hard-boiling the eggs and then have them with some left over veggies or an avocado.
So many business owners will give the reason of
“I don’t have time to cook breakfast”
as to why they eat the crappy convenient foods or just skip it altogether.
Here’s the thing – you’re kidding yourself. That’s not the reason.
The real reason is that you haven’t prioritised the importance of your health and therefore your nutrition.
You think that you should be focusing on your business at the expense of this sort of stuff.
It’s rubbish.
Deep down you know that you want to be slimmer.
You know that you would rather be wearing trousers that are smaller around your waist.
You know that you would like to have more energy throughout the day to improve your productivity at work.
You know that you want to live an active and fit, healthy lifestyle to inspire your partner and your kids.
It doesn’t have to be either /or!
I know this by the way because I used to be that person that would give those excuses.
Once I realised that by having a healthy body my confidence, self esteem, productivity, focus and energy all increased there was no turning back.
Get this right and you will have more energy, stay fuller for longer, have increased productivity and then significantly start to notice a trimmer stomach!
No excuses.
Do it!
Ricky
