Make a decision and then commit.
There’s nothing worse or unattractive than wishy washy uncertainty in a man.
I don’t know. It’s just not manly.
It’s weird that I can still remember the day that I made a decision to get FIT.
We had just got back from a holiday in Spain where I had really indulged. Paella, beer, wine, bread, etc.
We then had a wedding to go to and I remember trying my suit on and it was really tight. I then looked at myself in the hotel room mirror and just saw this massive gut with some serious ‘moobs’ on the horizon.
That was it – decision made…..and I haven’t looked back since.
Not only did I get fit myself but I also then started helping others to get fit by qualifying as a Personal Trainer!!
Having now trained hundreds of clients over the last couple of years, I can say that the biggest challenge that people face is not making the decision to lose weight and get fit. That’s an easy decision to make – I bet you’ve made it yourself at some point in the past?
The biggest challenge is the commitment part.
Cutting out crappy carbs, working out to a high intensity at least 3 times per week (after the initial 3 month honeymoon period has finished), cutting out the booze (certainly 6 days out of 7 anyway), and stocking up on protein.
A lot of people can do this for a couple of months – but that’s not commitment.
Commitment is continuing on this healthy lifestyle path forever. ….and not doing it begrudgingly.
It’s disappointing when people say that they’re going to change / do something and then at the first sign of it getting a bit tough they buckle. WHAT?
Don’t bother saying it in the first place – because clearly you didn’t mean it.
Side note here: being committed to do something more often than not requires the help and support of others. Whether it’s a mentor, a sponsor, a friend, loved one, whoever.
When it comes to specifically getting fit though either decide to get FIT or decide to get FAT. Your actions today / tomorrow will determine your destination here. Please also be aware that doing nothing is a decision in itself to start heading down that FAT path.
No judgement here my man. Just as long as you’re conscious and subsequently comfortable with that decision.
Take action now,
Ricky
