How I Got Rid Of My Moobs

I had my head in the sand for years.

You see, I thought that by going out for a couple of runs each week, that would cancel out the way that I was neglecting my body.

The thing is life had got tough and time had become something that I didn’t seem to have very much of.

As I went from late 20’s into early 30’s I found myself working 16 hour days in my own business whilst juggling a newly formed family life with 2 young children.

I was still young.

I had age on my side.

My personal health wasn’t high on my list of priorities with everything else going on.

I wish someone had given my a rule book that said

“when you hit your 30’s, you’re going to have to start thinking about what you eat and drink. You’re going to have to learn about protein and carbohydrates and fats and what you should be eating for breakfast. You will need to make sure that you’re working out at least 3 times per week.

If you don’t do this, then you will wake up one day, look at yourself in the mirror and be greeted by someone that you hardly recognise. You will look old, tired and completely out of shape.”

But we don’t get this.

We take it all for granted.

For me personally, it was when I was on a beach with my kids and I saw a photo of myself. I was appalled at how I had let myself go.

I was wearing 36″ shorts and they were tight. My gut was hanging over the top.

Moobs were forming.

My face looked tired.

I just looked like your standard middle aged dad.

This was my wake up call.

Our destiny is shaped by the decisions that we make.

I then started looking after myself. I joined a gym. I learned about nutrition and slowly but surely I started to see changes take place.

I loved this new found discovery of health and fitness and so decided to get out of my previous 17 year Financial Services career. I sold my shares to my business partner and re-trained and qualified as a Personal Trainer.

Everyone thought that I was suffering with depression and wasn’t thinking clearly.

“You’re 36 years old. You have a wife, 2 kids, big mortgage and cars on finance. This isn’t responsible”

I ignored them.

Turns out I was pretty good at getting fast results for clients.

So I then set up my own gym.

Now I have 250 monthly members in my personal training facility and 5 trainers working for me.

I then set up a home / gym workout programme for busy professionals – 20 minute workouts that deliver great results.

The most pleasing thing though has been the transformation in me…….

When I go on holiday I’m not embarrassed to take my top off – in fact I’m more than happy to!

I’m super focused with regards to my businesses now and my productivity has gone through the roof.

I have more energy throughout the day and no longer get those mid afternoon energy crashes.

Clothes fit me great. I can get away with wearing a tight t-shirt and not be paranoid about having to hold my gut in.

My wife loves the new me and I’ve inspired her to follow a similar path (she also left her previous job and qualified as a Personal Trainer!)

My kids know no different. Exercise, keeping fit, burpees, press ups etc are part of their life as well now.

and now I show other guys how to get in great shape themselves. I help other guys that are in a similar situation to what I was – Onset of moobs!!

and help them get in shape with just 20 minutes per day.

The beauty of all of this is that it’s really not complicated (doesn’t mean it’s easy though)

  • 3 -4 solid workouts each week (20 minutes each workout is fine)
  • Good quality unprocessed foods on a daily basis
  • Plenty of water

…and you’re good to go.
