Now I know that there loads of you guys out there who have super busy jobs and schedules in which you can be here, there and everywhere. As a result, this gives you bugger all time to eat food during the day, thus you end up eating loads in the evening when you actually have time to do so.
The problem with this is that this puts you at a high risk of going way past your calorie allowance for the day. Just think about it….
– get home from work and sit down for dinner
– still hungry so may go back for seconds
– feel like a little dessert, so you sneak a few biscuits which turns into a whole packet
– still feeling hungry, so you end up with a couple packets of crisps.
Before you know it, you have nailed way too many calories than you need in the space of a few hours.
So how can we stop this? Well, here are some tips you can use to stop this, and keep control of your nutrition.
1. Go to bed earlier
After dinnertime, most us are there to chill out, so do we need to be up for a number of hours after dinnertime? Getting to bed earlier is a super simple way of avoiding the chance to overeat in the evening. So set yourself a routine of a consistent bedtime, in a blacked out routine and you will start to really help your cause.
2. Try for a super filling dinner.
If you are still feeling hungry pretty soon after your dinner, then you will likely need to find a way of making your dinner much more filling. Aiming to get plenty more protein and vegetable on your plate is a great way of bulking out your dinner and making it a much more filling meal. The more filling the meal, the less likely you are going to want to eat afterwards.
3. Keep Low-Calorie snacks available
Just to clarify, eating at night is fine. Eating too many calories at night is not fine. So we can tackle this by making sure things we do eat are pretty low calorie. So instead of biscuits, crisps, chocolate, etc. Why not try these options:
– cottage cheese
– 0% Fat Greek Yoghurt
– Veg Sticks
– Fruit
These are great options, but if you do fancy some chocolate or something similar, then just ensure that you are keeping within your calorie allowance.
So try and take these steps to avoid nighttime overeating, but if it does happen then don’t stress about it. Let it go and move forward. One night of overeating is not going to derail your progress. Just be sure to leave it in the past and move forward with your progress
